How Do I Enter???
Easy. Very soon, your teacher can sign up your school via an online form. Make a video of 30 seconds. Near the end of the submission window, a weblink will be published where you can submit your 30 second video online. That's it.
What Do I Need To Do???
Make a 30 second video that gets kids to enter this:
The 2010 edition of the Slick Rock Film Festival will be held on May 15, 2010. It's open to students in grades 6-12 from Mariposa, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties. It's a pretty cool show, held at Visalia's Fox Theatre. Last year, more than 500 people went to the show. Kids can enter in the following categories: Documentary, Advertisement, Music Video, Animation, or Foreign Film. In 2009, over 46 high schools competed, with over 250 videos entered. It's the biggest, baddest student film festival in the entire Central Valley and last year over $20,000 worth of prizes were awarded.
A couple rules:
• You must show the CDWG logo (our sponsor) for 5 seconds. You must add these words in titles or audio (or something to this effect):
"CDWG is pleased to sponsor the Slick Rock Film Festival." Be creative if you like, but this is one key to winning.
• The idea of the video is to ATTRACT kids to make videos and enter them in the Festival. DO NOT MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT GOING TO THE FESTIVAL, that's not what we want.
• You must use Royalty Free or Creative Commons music. It must be cited in the video. If the judges can't verify your music is copyright free, your video could be disqualifed right there. Jamendo.com is a good source.
• Make sure to include these items prominently: The Slick Rock web address (SlickRockFestival.org) and sponsor logos: CTAP, Visalia Unified, COMCAST, College of the Sequoias
